In early September, Dopapod had big news for fans, announcing that the prog-rock jam unit would be taking 2018 to recharge. In the time since this initial announcement, the group has released a brand-new album MEGAGEM as well as kicked off their fall tour ahead of their upcoming hiatus. As such, fans have been rabid trying to get as much of the band into their systems before their break. In Nocember, Dopapod teamed up with Colorado funk giants The Motet for a handful of dates, at Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, North Carolina; Salvage Station in Asheville, North Carolina; and Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, Georgia.

All three performances saw Dopapod in truly proper form, offering up the flawless segues and precise improvisation the group has become known for. With members of The Motet on hand, the group took full advantage. One of the more memorable collaborations that came from the mini-run took place on Friday night in Raleigh, NC when Dopapod invited members of The Motet–including powerhouse vocalist Lyle Divinsky, keys master Joey Porter, trumpeter Gabe Mervine, and saxophonist Drew Sayers–to add their energetic flare to a rendition of TLC’s “Waterfalls”.

Thanks to MKDevo, you can watch multi-cam footage of the collaboration below!

The funk masters of The Motet recently outlined their plans for the beginning of 2018 with the announcement of sixteen new dates across January through April of next year. Head here for the full run down. See below for the remaining Dopapod dates of 2017.
