Causing quite the stir in Asheville, NC comes Emma’s Lounge, the self-described “Space Age Folk Wave” band. Founded by the acclaimed indie songwriter Logan Venderlic—who has been nicknamed “Appalachian Tom Petty”—the band took full form in 2017, adding members Meg Profitt Heatman (keys), Emma Forster (fiddle), Mackenzie Richburg (drums) and Brendan Bower (lead guitar/keys) into the mix. This leap took the music Venderlic wrote for Emma’s Lounge’s debut album, Heart Heavy, to new levels, as every member of the band now contributes vocals to their live performances to create ethereal harmonies that transport listeners to another place and time.

With their energetic live performances, Emma’s Lounge has wowed audiences from SweetWater 420 Fest to Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival and The BIG What?, sharing stages with jam scene favorites like Lettuce, Consider The Source, The Fritz, The Southern Belles, The Broadcast, and many more along the way.

For their newly-released follow-up, Confluence, Emma’s Lounge aimed to encapsulate the raw energy of their live performances by tracking the album live. The latest record is also the band’s first attempt at group songwriting, lending itself to unique genre-melding and diverse influences. The album highlights ensemble melodies backed by striking instrumentals that run the gamut from folk to electronic funk-pop.

Today, Live For Live Music is pleased to debut the band’s DIY video for “Gimme Yer Love”, the anthemic, upbeat lead single from their newly released record. The band shared their sentiment behind “Gimme Yer Love,” explaining:

Emma’s Lounge is anti-apathy. We try to make ourselves vulnerable every show we play and give out a ton of raw energy. We try to create an inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels welcome and comfortable letting loose, feeling free from any struggles they encounter in day-to-day life. This song is about us giving all of our energy out at our shows–dancing, screaming, singing, and acting like lunatics–and asking our audience to send it back to us. That symbiotic flow of energy is magic.
