Conscious music collective Satsang takes their name from the Sanskrit word meaning “in the company of truth.” They take that mantle to heart on their latest single, “We Are Strong”, which premieres today exclusively on Live For Live Music ahead of its official release on Friday, September 13th.
Comprised of guitarist/vocalist Drew McManus, multi-instrumentalist Karl Roth, drummer Ben Teters, and newly added lead guitarist Stefan Kallandar, Satsang mixes elements of folk, soul, rock, and hip-hop with lyrics rooted in social, personal, and spiritual growth. In a time of widespread societal struggles, “We Are Strong” is a heartfelt plea to recognize the power inside all of us (“We are victims no more. We know what we’re here for”).
“We Are Strong” was produced by Satsang and Matt Williams and features Max Ribner (Medicine for the People) on horns. As McManus explains of the track,
“We Are Strong” is an anthem of affirmation for the ever-present task of improvement. In an era where we are bombarded with everything going wrong, both inside and outside of the self, I wanted to assert strength and encouragement into the musical conversation. Trauma, failed relationships, seemingly lost goals… can all be faced head-on when we remember how resilient we really are. Though the road is long, we are strong.

Satsang – “We Are Strong”
Satsang is preparing to hit the road in support of the new single. The band will embark on a 15-date fall tour making stops in ten states over the course of four weeks. The tour will also mark the band’s first run of shows with their new lead guitarist, Stefan Kallandar.
As McManus notes about the upcoming tour,
Through all of the changes and stages of our lives, I think back on what we all have undoubtedly gone through to get here. It was our perseverance, and at the heart of that is our strength. I want to end our year on that note; traveling to some of our favorite cities and sharing the anthems for our coming winter growth. A deep knowing that through all of our transitions and changes…. we are strong. Resilience is a powerful thing to breathe into.
