On January 15th, Fox Street will play their largest headlining show at Denver’s legendary Gothic Theatre. The show promises to be an exciting affair, as fellow local band and longtime friends, Analog Son, will open the night up, and both bands will collaborate for a set performing music by the late Allen Toussaint. Together, these two groups will pay tribute to the singer/songwriter/composer/ hero through his timeless songs.

To get fans excited about the show, the two bands have released a taste of what to expect from their performance. Listen to a cover of Toussaint’s “Sneakin’ Sally Through The Alley” and get down with the funky grooves!

Both Analog Son and Fox Street are rising stars in the Colorado music scene, with both groups continually playing shows and creating new and exciting music for increasingly-growing audiences. It’s a great time to be a fan!

We asked the groups to tell us a little bit behind their motivation for paying tribute to the late great Toussaint with this “Sneakin’ Sally” cover:

Allen Toussaint was undeniably a historical icon in American music; and while he has been a huge influence on the musicians in Fox Street and Analog Son over the years, his songs continue to resonate the world over. “Sneakin’ Sally Through The Alley” in particular has become an extremely important touchstone in the funk world: From Robert Palmer’s landmark 1974 version (featuring members of the Meters and Little Feat) to the space odyssey that would become a highly anticipated staple of many-a-live Phish show, this song seemed to embody the ’new old-school’ spirit of both the Fox Street and Analog Son sounds. Some of the musicians in these two bands have been playing together for over a decade now; Josh Fairman of Analog Son has co-produced all three full-length Fox Street records, so this collaborative tribute is also very special to all of us in that way as well. We create a very special energy and sound when this circle of friends gets together and we couldn’t be more excited to bring it to the good people of Denver on Friday, January 15th at the Gothic Theater!”
