Today, the legendary soul singer Al Green turns 71. The Reverend a staple of soul music and gospel, and has been since the 1970’s, when he solidified himself as a powerful force in the music world with hits such as “Take Me To The River,” later covered by The Talking Heads to gain even more notoriety and critical acclaim, and “Let’s Stay Together.” Green was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995, and later took the 65th spot on Rolling Stone’s list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
