This month, Eric Krasno will host a three-night residency at New York City’s iconic Blue Note Jazz Club from March 19th through 21st, with two performances each night (one at 8 p.m. and one at 10:30 p.m.). Under the banner Eric Krasno & Friends, the beloved Soulive and Lettuce guitarist has tapped a number of other high-profile special guest musicians to join him for these performances, including Cory Henry, Robert Randolph, and more.

But even before he starts adding guests, Krasno will be hitting the stage with a familiar group of talented collaborators: his long-dormant former band, Chapter 2, comprised of Nigel Hall (Lettuce) on the keys as well drummer Louis Cato (Jon Batiste and Stay Human, the house band for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert), and bassist Chris Loftlin (Brian McKnight).

EXCLUSIVE: Eric Krasno Talks New Albums, Phil Lesh, Scofield, Hip-Hop, Pretty Lights, & More

The last time Krasno reconvened Chapter 2 as the house band for an Eric Krasno & Friends performance came during the 2017 edition of Brooklyn Comes Alive, where Kraz, Hall, Cato, and Loftlin welcomed a slew of guests including John ScofieldGeorge Porter Jr.Cyril NevilleJon ClearyWil Blades, and an all-star horn section featuring Mike “Maz” Maher and Chris Bullock (Snarky Puppy), Jennifer Hartswick (Trey Anastasio Band), Maurice “Mobetta” Brown, and more for one of the most memorable sets of the weekend.

As Krasno explains to Live For Live Music, “Chapter 2 encompasses a cross-section that meets somewhere between funk, fusion and a little rock & roll. Our repertoire traverses between our own originals [from Eric Krasno & Nigel Hall’s solo albums] to covers by our heroes from the 60s and 70s. This playlist gives you a taste of what we’re all about.”
