Last year, Umphrey’s McGee had the honor of recording in the world-famous Abbey Road Studios in London to compile what would become The London Session. The entire thing was recorded in one day-long, 12-hour session which included takes on studio tracks, live staples and even a Beatles cover. Now, we’re proud to premiere the live video recording of “Plunger”.

With the exception of the vocals, which were recorded back in Chicago, the video is 100% live, including the banter from Joel Cummins in the beginning. “Joel suggested they do the version like the Anchor Drops studio version, and not do any improv,” the UM team explains. “It got a good laugh out of Kris [Myers] along with the rest of us because Joel *always* wants improv. It highlights just how long the day had been as we entered our 11th hour of recording. No rest for the weary!”

Umphrey’s is constantly reinventing the wheel and proving why they’re one of the most dynamic jam bands out there. Their London Sessions are no exception. Watch them crush “Plunger” at the Beatles’ legendary home base.
