Connecticut based trio lespecial recently announced their third studio release, and first-ever full length album, Omnisquid, on November 20th. The band pulls from an incredibly eclectic array of styles including funk, metal, hip hop, and Afro-Latin rhythms, offering up music wholly unique and downright danceable.

We’re proud to debut the leading single for Omnisquid. Jam out on “New Fish”, below:

We spoke with the band’s bassist, Luke Bemand, about this awesome new track. He said, “‘New Fish’ invites the listener into a deep, nautical groove where fretless bass slides interlock with West African percussion and quirky guitar hooks weave in and out like a devious aquatic creature. As the waters grow more choppy and the vibe more sinister, disjointed double bass fills punctuate a sludgy groove that dismantles and reassembles itself over and over like a force that can’t be kept down.”

lespecial has a ton on their plate these days. Having just wrapped up their fifth annual lespectacle festival and two sold out nights of a Halloween run, the band is looking ahead at a tour schedule supporting Consider the Source and Mike Dillon Band. With Omnisquid due out on November 20th, there’s no telling how the future of lespecial will unfold. Better tune in and find out!
