The term “socially conscious music” usually conjures up pictures of acoustic guitar-strumming hippies with flowers in their hair. In the the world of metal music, one might be hard-pressed to find lyrical content that addresses the growing need for environmental conservation and human unity, but that’s exactly what Bald Man has done with his debut single, “Fight”.

Today the Cincinnati, OH-bred hard rock artist has released his first-ever single ahead of his forthcoming debut record, Music For The Rest of Us, out on September 18th. While the overdrive-laden, headbanging electric guitar riffs and the Mad Max-like, post-apocalyptic aesthetic of the video feel on-brand for this type of thrash metal fare, the lyrical content seems to go against pre-conceived notions of heavy metal mentality—but that’s exactly what Bald Man is going for.

“’Fight’ is a simple message,” said Bald Man. “We want to remind others we are all human beings, trying to survive on this planet spinning in space. Life is precious and we all need to come together as people and stand up, to help us navigate history and educate ourselves on what it teaches us so we can all stop repeating tyranny and corruption and discord to fight for ourselves. We the people. We the used and forgotten.”

Music For The Rest of Us has plenty of familiar hands on deck as well, from engineer Jason Decter Blink-182, Weezer, Panic at the Disco) to the album’s co-author, guitarist/producer Ben Trexel (Train, Brandi Carlile, Zac Brown Band). The 10-song LP was originally scheduled for release in 2019 but was pushed back due to the release of Hellbilly Hollow, which features six of the album’s songs as well as stars Bald Man.
