Last Friday, July 31st, guitarist extraordinaire Eric Lindell returned to Fire Island for the third time in four years. The New Orleans based musician from Northern California has built a loyal local following in the small beach community with his heartfelt soulful singing and tasty guitar playing.

Over the course of two sets, Lindell and the band played over two and a half hours of originals and covers with the “Lindell spin.”
This is now the fifth year that local music photographer Marc Millman has helped to bring established acts from the Crescent City to Fire Island, producing two shows each season to help raise money for the local non-profit Ocean Beach Community Fund. The past three summers have all been about helping to rebuild various part of the town post-Hurricane Sandy. Last summer was to rebuild the children’s playground; this one is for the local day camp.

The intimate nature of these shows (approximately 150 tickets made available) make for an extra memorable night. Since being introduced to the island in 2012, Lindell has made an effort to make an annual stop, performing again in 2014 and now 2015.
The setlist included an awesome cover of Neil Young’s “Cinnamon Girl”, which you can watch below:
This season’s second NOLA show will feature Big Sam’s Funky Nation, taking place once again at Maguire’s in Ocean Beach, NY on August 28th. Tickets are available at the venue’s official website.
