Greensky Bluegrass brought their rock ‘n roll bluegrass frontal assault back to the Wonder Ballroom on Friday, November 6th for night two of their Portland, OR triple header.

American Babies delivered an opening set of improvisational rock as the venue filled to capacity. This ensemble was founded by Tom Hamilton (Brothers Past, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Billy & The Kids) and combines solid songwriting with playful improv.

Greensky didn’t waste any time harnessing the energy in the sold out Wonder Ballroom, building the “Kerosene” jam to full velocity. There were no complete albums played on this night, unlike the night before, just a high-spirited show that combined originals with some traditional songs and tasteful covers.

The second set included a shout out to Vince Herman’s future bride before playing a big “Foxy Lady” medley for her. Greensky brought out Steve Berlin (Los Lobos) at the end of the set to play baritone saxophone, and he stuck around for the encore, Bruce Springsteen’s “Atlantic City”.
