On Thursday, April 23rd, Halestorm led The Carnival of Madness to the Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA, supported by Pretty Reckless. Promoting their newest album, Into the Wild, Halestorm included ten new tracks in their setlist for metalheads to enjoy. This might have had to do with the fact that Yahoo! LiveStream was recording the show, but the band came to play, all the same, with expected high energy and spitfire persona. All members seemed to be having a blast on stage throwing picks like ninja stars at each other and the crowd—good to see musicians having fun doing what they love.
An impressive guitar solo from Lzzy Hale in “Dear Daughter” was a pleasant surprise in the middle of the set, as inspirational lyrics to the women in attendance led everyone to stand silently, hanging onto each moment. Lzzy Hale took time to preface the song by thanking her parents and telling concert goers to, “Go for it,” because, “the 9-5 will always be there.” This came off as genuine and sincere with Lzzy flicking picks to young members in attendance, hoping to inspire future rockers.
Immediately following “Dear Daughter,” Lzzy’s brother Arejay Hale took the spotlight and busted out an impressive, lengthy drumming frenzy—the crowd felt beats through their chest in rapid succession. Arejay is a certified maniac on the drums and he does not have to prove it to anyone. The way he plays, jumping around, flipping and throwing stick around stage is a sight to see in it of itself.
Halestorm, is lucky to be fronted by a guitarist and vocalist like Lzzy Hale. She is a bad ass, crushing heavy guitar riffs and belting killer vocals. If you get the opportunity to catch Halestorm in action, GO! This band is the full package of talent, entertainment, crowd interaction, showmanship.
