The String Cheese Incident‘s keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth hosted his annual Kyle’s Brew Fest at the Great Divide Brewery in Denver, CO yesterday, essentially acting as a pre-Red Rocks kick-off party. With over thirty breweries in attendance, making for some delicious tastings of various beers, ciders, and meads, the event also featured an opening set from Ryan Jalbert‘s (The Motet) JALBATROSS and was a benefit for Conscious Alliance.

SCI’s Kyle Hollingsworth Shares New Funky Tune From The Sound Lab

Kyle’s band and set featured members of The Motet, as well as sit-ins from fellow String Cheese brother Jason Hann, The New Mastersounds’ Eddie Roberts, and singer Tanya Shylock. The set featured some tracks from the keyboardist’s 2014 album Speed of Life, including “Here We Go”, “Falling Through The Cracks”, and “Peregrino”, amongst others, as well as new non-SCI Kyle tracks that have been shared via the band’s Sound Lab in “Tumbling” and Let Me In”.

The group also worked in covers of The Beatles‘ “Taxman” which featured Eddie Roberts bringing that jazz-funk guitar into the mix, Tower of Power‘s “Don’t Change Horses” and a brief Talking Heads “Crosseyed and Painless” jam. The show ended with an encore of just Hollingsworth and Hann on a stripped down version of Cheese’s “Can’t Wait Another Day”. All in all, a fantastic pre-party to kick off a huge 3-night String Cheese Incident run at Red Rocks which begins tonight. Check out some video below from the performance!
