Lotus came prepared to cap off their two-night run in Milwaukee in appropriate fashion. Last night’s show was a perfect way to get the weekend going. It was sold out, and the Turner Hall Ballroom was filled to the brim with Lotus fans.

Early birds were granted a great set from openers Michal Menert and the Pretty Fantastics. Michal Menert, known more for his DJ abilities and electronic sound, came with a live band that backed him. They did a good job of warming up the crowd for the main act of the night.

Lotus got started right away, opening up with “Juggernaut.” It is always a great opener, and this version had a nice “Contagion” sandwiched right in the middle. One of the highlights of the show included an electric version of “Nematode.” Mike Rempel’s guitar part at the beginning of the song echoed throughout the venue, signaling a huge jam for the next 15 minutes.

They also played a newer tune, “Eats the Light,” that was just recently released. The single sounded great in the live setting. “In the Bliss” segued into “Sunrain,” and that segment was another example of phenomenal musicianship. It rocked really hard, and the band’s lighting director Scott Huston made great use of not only the lights but the lantern-like objects that were hanging from the rig to give the audience some ‘raindrops’ as the music played.

They played a double encore which included one of their best songs, “Colorado,” only to end the night with a raging “What Did I Do Wrong” that was a fun way to end the two night run. Lotus wraps up their winter tour tonight in Cleveland, with several festivals booked through this summer. See you there!
