Heavy instrumental rock fusion quartet TAUK returned to Pittsburgh last Friday night at the Rex Theater, and in grand fashion laid down a minefield of bombastic beats and mind-warping sonic portals that had the Pittsburgh crowd going ape. On the back of the release of their first live album, HeadroomMatt Jalbert (Guitar) Charlie Dolan (Bass) Alric “A.C.” Carter (Keyboards/Organ) and Isaac Teel (Drums) have established themselves as one of the most talented prog-rock bands in the scene today, impressing anyone who comes in contact with their style.

Umphrey’s McGee Announces New York City Run With TAUK

After opening the show with “Mindshift” and “Dirty Mouth,” TAUK had the Rex Theater crowd entranced, moving on to a mammoth, jammed out “I Might Be Wrong” before closing their first set out with an electric version of The Beatles’ “Eleanor Rigby.” The second set picked up hot and heavy where the first set left off with the New York natives diving into a spacey “Mokuba” before making it’s way to “Carpentino’s Rebirth,” “Collateral” and a cover of Nirvana’s “In Bloom,” all from Headroom, and closing out the night with “In the Basement of the Alamo” and “Battle Without Honor Or Humanity.”
