Half a decade has passed since Angelinos have been able to see Yonder Mountain String Band play a local show, and the crowd showed up in droves on April 4th to the House Of Blues Sunset Strip, the same venue as their previous gig in 2010.

The evening was full of memorable moments, like Allie Kral’s fiddle playing to “Casualty > Crazy Train > Casualty,” and her vocal lead on the jaw-dropping rendition of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene.” Mandolin player Jake Jolliff was in true form, even singing the punk-rock cover “Corona.” The band also treated us with the title track to their unreleased album Black Sheep.

To many in the audience, the ultimate highlight of the evening was the first encore, which was something “very special that that we’re looking forward to,” the Game of Thrones theme song. Bassist Ben Kaufmann promised they wouldn’t wait so long to stop by again, and the grass-loving LA crowd sure hopes he’s right!
