Santa Barbara-based producer Dreamers Delight sets out to deceive viewers with a title that assumes that you must be asleep to appreciate the craft of his music. Reed Krafft, who began the Dreamers Delight project back in 2014, has quietly yet quickly risen through the ranks of the modern electronic music scene. Back in June, he made his live debut at Electric Forest. Now, he is set to present his second EP, Awake.

For years, Reed Krafft worked as a producer behind the scenes. Steadily, he has made a name for himself, producing his first EP, Close Your Eyes, back in 2013. Since then, he has continued to build his musical resume, putting out original mixes and remixes. His inspiring remix of ODESZA’s “Bloom” (In Return, 2014) has not only heightened his reputation, but has served as full display of the unique production skills that Dreamers Delight possesses. His ability to fuse elements of smooth hip-hop beats with choppy, yet melodic electronics. Throughout this time, Krafft has managed to produce a significant following online, reaching over 275,000+ streams on his Soundcloud account.

Awake, released today under Gramatik’s Lowtemp Records, is a further representation of the ability of Dreamers Delight to create a unique and innovative sound that helps to set him apart from the modern electronic world. His first track “Olives”, released ahead of the EP, is a classic example. The track opens up with a daring and suspenseful build, that leaves listeners intrigued. This immediately leads into a bold drop, filled with vibrant strings, that, quite frankly, leaves viewers stunned. Just ask the guy who commented, “Dudeeeeee wtf” on the track’s Soundcloud post.

The rest of the EP follows in the skillful path of “Olives”. This simply attributes to the artist that Krafft aims to be. “The music that I’m working on is representative of my unique experience, which makes it a little different than  what’s  being  put  out  elsewhere,”  he says.  “There’s  raw  energy  flowing,  uplifting  feels, and melodies that are meant to push you to a point of reflection – of oneself, the world and universe around us. My vision is to have my music reflect a clear divide and refreshing break from the norm.”

Overall, Alive is a stunning example of the young wave of innovation blooming from the electronic world. Dreamers Delight has shown how crafty he can be, fusing various genres together to create a wonderful release. We can only assume that the Santa Barbara-based producer will continue to put out such work. Don’t sleep on this artist: Awake is simply awesome.
