Seu Jorge is such a unique artist. His acoustic covers of David Bowie, performed exclusively in Portuguese, have a captivated audiences ever since his breakthrough performance in Wes Anderson‘s quirky cult-classic film The Life Aquatic. With the unfortunate passing of David Bowie earlier this year, Jorge decided to take his beloved covers on the road for a special tour, in celebration of the music and artistry of the Thin White Duke. The “Life Aquatic Tour” has been stopping in cities across the country, giving fans in America a unique opportunity to see the Brazilian artist live and in person.
Last night, Jorge stopped by Town Hall in New York City for a powerhouse performance of songs from throughout Bowie’s career. Opening with “Ziggy Stardust”, he worked through re-arranged versions of “Changes”, “Starman”, “Rock and Roll Suicide”, “Suffragette City”, “Life On Mars?” and more. One of the true highlights of the show was an emotional performance of “Space Oddity”, which you can watch below, courtesy of LazyLightning55a.
