The first day of Jazz Fest’s second weekend—affectionately known as “Locals Thursday”—drew a larger crowd than usual yesterday, most likely as a result of the reduced-price tickets that the festival offered to Louisiana residents for the first time this year. Of course, the music was also a huge draw, with acts like Lionel Richie, Toots & The Maytals, Lyle Lovett, and Blind Boys of Alabama headlining various stages. Other acts on the bill included Old Crow Medicine Show, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Hot Rize, Cyril Neville’s Swamp Funk, Honey Island Swamp Band, Naughty Professor, and Paul Sanchez & The Rolling Road Show, among many others.

Jeffrey Dupuis was on hand to capture some photos of the weekday Jazz Fest magic.
