Platinum-selling alt-rocker grandson arrived at New York, NY’s Mercury Lounge on Saturday for an explosive performance featuring indie-pop rising stars Royal & the Serpent and rock-tinged hip-hop band OXYMORRONS.

The New York show came as part of the Canadian-American hitmaker’s DEATH OF A tour in support of his full-length debut, Death Of An Optimist. As grandson, real name Jordan Edward Benjamin, said of the trek, “The mood of this tour is RELEASE. Release of anger, of joy, all the complicated emotions of 2 years of uncertainty.”
