Portugal. The Man has been riding a massive hot streak in the last year as their 2017 single “Feel It Still” has rocketed to mainstream megahit status, netting them countless new fans in addition to a Grammy Award for Best Pop/Duo Performance.

The band, which originated in Alaska but calls Portland, OR home, has used some of the spoils from their heightened public profile to beef up the spectacle at their live shows over the course of their current tour, including an intro video starring everyone’s favorite asinine cartoon music video hecklers, Beavis and Butt-Head.

In the clip, which the band plays as they take the stage, their “Feel It Still” music video is dissected in the style of the cult favorite Mike Judge-created MTV show. The titular characters, as always, proclaim how much it sucks and make jokes like, “When you have complicated facial hair like that, I think it means you have, like, problems?”

However, midway through the clip, while contemplating this “complicated facial hair”, a wide-eyed Butt-Head has an epiphany:

Shut up, Beavis. I just figured something out…he’s not misunderstood—it is us who have misunderstood. This does suck, but this sucks so hard that it sucked a hole through the dimensional wall into awesomeness. When you compress this much crap under the force of this much pretention, you create a beautiful diamond. This is the greatest band that has ever walked the Earth. But they do not walk the Earth, they float above it as gods. They are better than The Beatles. Better than The Rolling Stones. Better than Silverchair. Almost as good as Pantera. They are our rightful lords and masters…

“Ladies and gentlemen,” he concludes, “Bow down to the greatest band in the world: Portugal. The Man.”

Pretty solid way to start your show… Watch the clip below:
