Our old friend and concert videographer Rex-A-Vision has a special treat to help music fans start the year off with a bang—the pilot for his long-gestating documentary series about the live music scene is now available for the world to see! This first installment takes a look at a music venue near and dear to us all: the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park.

The debut episode encapsulates all the ways in which the Park is so very special, with stories from its inception all the way up to the October 2019 edition Suwannee Hulaween Music Festival. The episode features interviews with the key figures in the history of the park including the founders, Jean and Bob Cornett, current owner James Cornett, promoter Paul Levine, and many more. The pilot features music from some of the best and brightest performances on the Park’s celebrated stages through the years as well as exclusive performances by Keller Williams, Drew Emmitt (Leftover Salmon) and Bill Nershi (The String Cheese Incident), Jeff Mosier and more!

This show was a true labor of love that’s been years in the making. The long and twisted path toward its production was delayed multiple times due to various health crises’ and obstacles great and small, all of which honed Rex’s resolve to finish his vision. This mostly one-man creation makes up for its rough-around-the-edges production with keen insight and charm.

With footage from festivals like Hulaween, Wanee, Suwannee Roots Revival and Spring Reunion, the late, lamented Bear Creek Music Festival and artists like The String Cheese Incident, Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine, Anderson .Paak, Run The Jewels, moe., Umphrey’s McGee, Leftover Salmon, Keller Williams, Andy Frasco, The Emmitt-Nershi Band, Dumpstaphunk, Galactic, Peter Rowan, Del McCoury and many, many more, this is an archival look at the essence of the Spirit Of The Suwannee from one of it’s biggest fans.

Later this year, Rex will be gathering footage for the forthcoming series at concerts and festivals around the country to show the depth and scope of the national music scene. For now, though, check out his love letter to Suwannee and all that goes into making it one of the best places to hear live music in the world with the first-ever episode of Rex-A-Vision! It’s in full HD, so be sure to set your playback for maximum resolution to avoid any digital lag! Enjoy!
