In late April, The String Cheese Incident headlined the opening day of the 2018 edition of SweetWater 420 Fest at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta, GA. To close the first night’s festivities, the band delivered two energetic, guest-filled sets. The String Cheese Incident’s first frame saw them welcome The Motet vocalist Lyle Divinsky and drummer Dave Watts (as well as vocalist Rhonda Thomas) for the debut live performance of “Get To You“, a recent collaboration between SCI and Divinsky released via the Sound Lab. Rhonda Thomas stuck around for the next song: a rare cover of Jamiroquai‘s “Space Cowboy”, further fueling rumors that the British funk band will be appearing at the String Cheese-hosted Suwannee Hulaween later this year.

However, perhaps the most exciting sit-in of SCI’s 420 Fest performance was young guitar wizard and 420 Fest artist-at-large Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, who joined the band during their second set to shred his way through “Close Your Eyes” before returning to the stage along with Thomas for a show-closing “I Saw The Light”. Today, The String Cheese Incident has released pro-shot video of their Taz collaboration on “Close Your Eyes” for everyone to relive in all its glory. Check it out below:

In his role as artist-at-large, Taz would go on to sit in with Tedeschi Trucks BandUmphrey’s McGeeGreensky Bluegrass, and more over the rest of the weekend. You can read a full recap of the no-filler live music magic that took place at 2018’s SweetWater 420 Fest here.
