Each year for Halloween, thousands of costumed New Yorkers head downtown to Greenwich Village to participate in the Village Halloween Parade. Initiated in 1073 by local puppeteer and mask maker Ralph Lee, the Halloween parade remains the world’s largest Halloween parade as well as the only NYC parade to be hosted at night.

Of course, in our little circle of the world, many people celebrate Halloween by going to concerts. However, as we continue to relive the various musical Halloween festivities from this weekend, we’d be remiss in recapping a weekend of spooky performances without giving due to this one-of-a-kind meeting of the spirits.

Below, you can check out a video of hundreds of costumed parade participants performing the iconic dance from Michael Jackson‘s “Thriller” video. You can also take a look at some of the many incredible costumes spotted at this year’s parade here via Gothamist.
