On September 9th fans can relive the final concert of Queen’s first headlining tour in 1974. The London performance will be released as a live album, Queen: Live at the Rainbow 1974.
1974 was an extremely successful year for the band, due to the release of their first chart-topping single “Killer Queen,” their second LP Queen II, and their famous album Sheer Heart Attack, which reached Platinum in the UK and Poland.
The sold out Rainbow show was one consisiting of a 17 song mega-set and was a part of a larger show for Mott the Hoople. The live concert CD will have two discs–one of the concert itself and the other featuring a concert that was played shortly after their 1974 album, Sheer Heart Attack, was released, which reached number 2 on UK Billboards. The CD also contains the only known recording of “The Fairy Feller’s Master Stroke,” a song from Queen II, which makes a direct reference to a painting by English artist Richard Dadd.
