Developments out of Buena Vista, CO and Chaffee County suggest that a new music festival is on the horizon. Spearheaded by Boulder-based Madison House Presents and AEG Live, the new festival hopes to draw over 20,000 festival goers to the 274-acre parcel located in the upper Arkansas River Valley, though no headliners have been revealed yet for the festival, which is expected to be held from August 4-7.

Chaffee County Commissioner Dave Potts told a community center in downtown Buena Vista on Tuesday that he didn’t foresee any obstacles that couldn’t be overcome, adding “I have faith in Madison House that is well earned that they can do what needs to be done.” County sheriff John Spezze echoed these sentiments, saying “I hate to sound like I’m pushing this thing, but we really had no problem with this. There’s not a lot of negatives to talk about.”

The festival is expected to make a significant impact on the local economy, too. Sales tax collections from last August’s two-day event in Salida, “Genteleman Of The Road,” put on by Madison House, reached a monthly all-time high, collecting more than $509,000 and exceeding July collections for the first time. However, with Buena Vista being only roughly half the size of Salida, concert promoters will have to be aware of not overwhelming the city. “We have to be cognizant of what this town can handle,” Madison House Presents’ festival director Michael Sampliner said.
