Earlier this year, music journalist Benjy Eisen (Deal: My Three Decades of Drumming, Dreams, and Drugs with the Grateful Dead) recruited a mix of musicians to play a one-time outdoor show at Los Angeles’ WeHo Funk Garden centered around the music of the Grateful Dead under the alias The West Hollywood Fadeaways, which has since been rechristened as JOIN. The performance from the group—comprised of Reed Mathis (Billy & the Kids, Electric Beethoven), Adam MacDougall (Black Crowes, Circles Around the Sun), Wally Ingram (Timbuk 3, Banyan), and John Lovero (The Higgs)—was recorded on video, and the show will now air via webcast on StageIt this Wednesday for Christmas Eve (12/24).
According to the press announcement, the ticketed Christmas Eve webcast will treat viewers to “Improvisational-heavy takes on classics from the Grateful Dead songbook, as well as a fun little excursion based on a Phish theme.” Tickets for the A Night of the Dead on Christmas Eve webcast, which will begin at 9 p.m. ET, are now on sale here.
