A new children’s book, The ABCs of The Grateful Dead, introduces kids to Grateful Dead history with an abecedarian format, starting with the letter “a” and working through the 26 letters of the alphabet.

Due out on November 22nd via Permuted Press, just in time for the holidays, The ABCs of The Grateful Dead was written by Howie Abrams and features colorful illustrations by Michael “Kaves” McLeer. With the use of vibrant imagery and playful rhymes, the children’s book teaches readers the basics of Grateful Dead culture, from the Dead’s iconic albums and the famous Wall of Sound to the band’s terrapin and dancing bear iconography and the importance of veggie burritos to the lot economy:

B is for bears,
Dancing and grinning from ear to ear.
So furry and bursting with color,
their joy is abundantly clear.

……………………….

T is for Terrapin,
Traveling to its happy place.
With a colorful tie-dye shell,
And a wide smile on its face.

……………………….

V is for Veggie Burritos,
Sold in parking lots.
In exchange for miracles,
Served cold or piping hot.
