AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd is ready to get back to work behind the kit, since being cleared of recent attempted murder-for-hire charges. However, Rudd still has a ways to go before that happens, as the 60-year old drummer is still due in court on February 10th for facing charges of threats to kill and drug possession.
During a Nov. 6th raid of his home, police claimed to have found 4.6 ounces of marijuana and .7g’s of methamphetamine, which Rudd flatly denies (along with the threats to kill charge). All the drummer wants to do is get back to work: “I’m going back to work with AC/DC and I don’t care who likes it or who doesn’t. I want my job back and I want my reputation back.”
In a recent interview with Howard Stern, both Angus Young and Brian Johnson addressed the situation of the band touring in support of their latest album, Rock or Bust, and moving forward with or without Rudd: “I don’t think we need to do any firing,” Johnson said. “The situation will take care of itself. He has gotten himself into a pickle. There is nothing we can do about it. We are talking about criminal charges here. We are talking about judges, we are talking about juries. We are going to go on tour. Nothing is going to stop us.”
When asked if Rudd was still a member of the band, Young responded, “We’ve got to resolve that.”
