The Reverend Al Green is set to make his live comeback later this year with eight shows surrounding his April 28th performance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. The upcoming run will mark Al Green’s first run of live shows in seven years, though he’s continued to lead Sunday church services in Memphis, TN over the years.

The run of comeback shows begins on April 24th with a performance at Bass Concert Hall in Austin, TX, followed by a gig in Irving, TX two nights later on April 26th. Following his appearance at Jazz Fest on April 28th, Green will head back to Texas for a show in Sugar Land on April 30th, followed by a final gig at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta on May 3rd.

Newly announced dates will bring the 72-year-old soul icon to Radio City Music Hall in New York, NY on May 5th; The Chicago Theatre in Chicago, IL on May 7th; and the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, CA on May 9th. It’s unclear if more dates will be added to the 2019 schedule.

Green will be joined throughout his brief spring tour on select dates by former NPR Tiny Desk Contest winners, Tank and the Bangas, and The War and Treaty.
