After eight years, Alabama Shakes are finally back with news of the band’s first tour since 2017 and the promise of new music on the way. The four-time Grammy-winning neo-soul band staged a surprise reunion late last year in Tuscaloosa, AL after going on hiatus in 2018 so singer Brittany Howard could mount an acclaimed solo career [ticketing information]
The 30-show tour will kick off on July 16th at The Salt Shed in Chicago and run through September 27th when it wraps at Irving, TX’s The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory. Along the way, Alabama Shakes will visit iconic venues and major markets including Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO (7/20), Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville (7/25), the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA (8/14), Jacobs Pavilion in Cleveland (9/8), Forest Hills Stadium outside New York City (9/17), and more. The band will also take top billing at Minnesota Yacht Club Festival and Bourbon & Beyond Festival. The tour will feature rotating support from Bahamas, Shannon & The Clams, El Michels Affair, The Budos Band, Sam Evian, Lee Fields, Greyhounds, Y La Bamba, Caleb Elliott, and Alanna Royale.
“Last year, Heath [Fogg, guitarist], Zac [Cockrell, bassist], and I started chatting about how much fun it would be to make music together and tour again as Alabama Shakes,” said vocalist/guitarist Brittany Howard. “This band and these songs have been such a source of joy for all of us. It is crazy that it has been 10 years since we released Sound and Color and eight years since we played a show. But, we didn’t want this to entirely be a look back. We wanted it to be as much about the future as the past. So we have a bunch of new music that will be released soon. We just can’t wait to experience that ‘feeling’ when we start playing those first few notes of ‘Don’t Wanna Fight’ or ‘Gimme All Your Love.’”

Alabama Shakes have not played an announced concert together since the Oshega Festival in August 2017. In 2018, the band officially went on hiatus so Howard could focus on her solo career, resulting in her instant-classic debut Jaime in 2019. Last year, she followed up Jaime with What Now which earned a “Best Alternative Music Album” nomination at the 2025 Grammy Awards. In the meantime, Howard launched a new hardcore band Kumite which made its live debut in Nashville last month at the Basement East. Howard curated the show herself and assembled the lineup featuring Snõõper, Inner Peace, and Second Spirit.
