Today, for the 91st installment of Rad Tracks Thursday, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead released pro-shot video of their first set closer from their final night at the Joy Theatre in New Orleans during the beginning of May. The last night of their three-night run coincided with the close of New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, falling on Sunday, May 7th. For this latest Rad Tracks release, the massive forty-one-minute video shows Joe Russo’s Almost Dead—featuring Joe Russo, Marco Benevento, Tom Hamilton, Dave Dreiwitz, and Scott Metzger—moving through “Throwing Stones,” “Stella Blue,” and “Music Never Stopped.”

As noted by Peter Costello, “Throwing Stones” featured a Benevento/Russo Duo jam within it as well as teases of The Beatles’ “Ticket To Ride.” The band also teased “China>Rider” to transition out of the song and into “Stella Blue,” which featured also teases back to “Throwing Stones” by Metzger. The band eventually built out “Stella Blue” into “Music Never Stopped,” again following the pattern of teasing the song before it with traces of “Stella Blue” laced throughout, primarily by Tom Hamilton.
