Anderson .Paak has announced a one-off concert at the Hollywood Bowl during which the lauded rapper, singer, and drummer will link up with his longtime backing band, The Free Nationals, and an orchestra (for the first time ever) for a unique recreation of .Paak’s breakout sophomore LP, 2016’s Malibu. The performance is due to take place at the famed Los Angeles, CA bandshell on Tuesday, September 24th, 2024.

Revered multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer Derrick Hodge, who some might know from his work as the bassist for Robert Glasper, will lead the orchestral portion of the Malibu recreation at Hollywood Bowl as the conductor of what’s Color of Noize Orchestra. Per an announcement from the Hollywood Bowl, the performance will feature songs from Malibu in addition to other songs from .Paak’s varied career, which has of late included new work with Knxwledge as NxWorries, turntable gigs as DJ Pee Wee, and a multiple Grammy-winning, Vegas residency-spawning, faux-’70s sleaze revivalist turn as one-half of Silk Sonic.
