Having not recorded an album with Outkast since 2006’s Idlewind, an André 3000 solo album has been talked about for years. While the frontman dedicated his time in 2014 to the 20th anniversary reunion of Outkast and his starring in the Jimi Hendrix biopic, he’s recently appeared on Erykah Badu’s “Hello” and Kanye West’s “30 Hours.”

Earlier this week, André gave a touching speech at the memorial service of Phife Dawg (aka Malik Izaak Boyce-Taylor) from A Tribe Called Quest, mentioning that a collaboration between Outkast and ATCQ was once on the table, but for “personal reasons” it simply never came to fruition. Yesterday, an Instagram post from comedian Chris Rock showed André “hard at work” on an album with Jack White, A Tribe Called Quest’s Jarobi White, and producer D-Nice.

There’s no telling exactly what this means, but we have our fingers crossed for an epic product to come out of those walls. Whether the crew got together in celebration of Phife Dawg’s life, or if his memorial brought them all together again; we’ll just have to wait and find out.
