The ever-energetic and always-frenetic Andy Frasco has revealed major plans for 2016, including a brand new album and an extensive, two-month long tour of the United States. The whole tour kicks off on January 14th in San Diego, working its way across the country and ending at the South by Southwest Festival for a string of performances in Austin, TX.
The new album, titled Happy Bastards, is an attempt at showing the optimistic, light-hearted side of blues music. As Frasco explains, “I’m trying to bring a different interpretation of what people think the blues is. Not all blues need to be sad and lonesome. I love acts like Wilson Pickett, Marvin Gaye, Buddy Guy, The Band, Samantha Fish, Houndmouth – all those acts made or make the blues their own style.”
In doing so, Andy Frasco has cultivated a party-like atmosphere to his live performances. It’s always a great time, and Frasco prides himself in that feat. “If, by the end of the night, I see 90 per cent of the room laughing and smiling, then I know I did my job,” he said in a statement.
Happy Bastards is due out on February 26th, just one night before his performance at NYC’s Knitting Factory. It’s an album that celebrates life, so celebrate your own life by hitting one of Frasco’s shows on the road!
