Andy Frasco & The U.N. have released their latest single, the sunnily existential “Try Not to Die”.

Co-written with decorated songwriter Chris Gelbuda (Neal Francis, Maggie Rose, Greensky Bluegrass, David Shaw) during a creative reset in Nashville, the track is both a rallying cry and a reminder to find joy amidst the chaos. “Pay all your bills, stay off the pills, and try not to die,” Frasco sings, blending humor with heartfelt advice.

“This is one of my favorites I’ve ever written,” Gelbuda said of the track in a post on social media. “It all started with a conversation over dueling hangovers. Andy Frasco is going places and I love the music we create.”

While the studio version of “Try Not To Die” arrives today, Andy Frasco & The U.N. spent much of 2024 steadily testing the song out onstage. Frolicking in the grey area between sincere and macabre—a microcosm of the Frasco aesthetic—the song already feels like an old friend in the world of The U.N.

“My goal as a musician and songwriter has always been to get people out of their echo chambers to grow,” Frasco said in a press statement. “You can’t grow unless you hear both sides. My hope is people break out of their depression and think of a different way to live life. I try to write optimistically depressing songs. I’m always looking for silver linings.”

The single builds on the momentum of 2023’s L’Optimist, Frasco’s most introspective album to date, which balanced resilience and humor while exploring life’s challenges. A master of reinvention, Frasco has also cultivated a loyal following beyond his music. His World Saving Podcast has featured candid conversations with icons like Tony Hawk and Margaret Cho, while his World Saving ShitShow variety series captivated millions during the pandemic with its blend of music, comedy, and unfiltered fun.
