There are many things that people might call outspoken conservative political pundit Ann Coulter, but Deadhead probably wouldn’t be one of them. Unbeknownst to many, the spicy author, lawyer, and correspondent spent quite a bit of time on the road seeing the Grateful Dead (she has been to approximately 67 shows, to the best of her recollection). In a recent interview on SiriusXM’s Insight program, Sit Down with Alfred and Chris, Coulter discussed her massive collection of tapes (she dated a taper), her favorite songs, why she respects the Dead community, and several other interesting tidbits.

Other acts that Coulter listens to, according to a 2006 interview with Jambands, are “String Cheese Incident, Phish, Dave Matthews Band, Blues Traveler, New Potato Caboose….There’s Jet, Cake, Outkast, 50 Cent, Black-Eyed Peas, Lord Alge, Beck, Kanye West (I like his Jesus song), Missy Elliot, and Eagles of Death Metal.” Here are a couple of excerpts from the SiriusXM interview:

Coulter reveals some of her favorite Dead songs, which include “Loose Lucy,” “Althea,” “Eyes of the World,” and “Unbroken Chain” among others:

She even convinced Republican Senator Spencer Abraham, when she was working with the Senate Judiciary Committee, to pay tribute to the Rex Foundation and Jerry Garcia:
