Austin Psych Fest will return for a takeover of The Far Out Lounge from April 26th–28th, 2024 with a lineup topped by Courtney Barnett, Kurt Vile & The Violators, and hosts The Black Angels. The sister festival to LEVITATION will return once again to its single-venue, multi-stage springtime form.
Presented by the tastemakers at the Reverberation Appreciation Society and The Black Angels, Austin Psych Fest will showcase a diverse lineup of acts attracted to the weird music hub. Among the 25 artists on the initial lineup are bi-lingual indie-soul band Chicano Batman, Dinosaur Jr. guitarist J Mascis‘ stoner metal crew Witch, Canadian pop outfit Alvvays, Australian psych-rock princes Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, jam band harpist Mikaela Davis, and many more. The thoughtfully curated lineup will feature a “witchy” Saturday with All Them Witches, Witch, Frankie and The Witch Fingers, and L.A. Witch all performing.
In an homage to the classic 1960s psych that inspired the festival, Mad Alchemy, TV Eye, and drop//cuts will drench the venue’s outdoor space with liquid light and visuals. The Black Angels will also debut a new visual experience at the festival in collaboration with TV Eye.

First launched by The Black Angels and their friends in 2008, Austin Psych Fest grew to be a staple of the underground music scene not just in Austin but around the globe. In 2015, the festival was renamed to LEVITATION in honor of Austin psychedelic rock pioneers The 13th Floor Elevators who reunited at the festival for their 50th anniversary.
LEVITATION has since grown into an international destination for artists beyond psych rock, encompassing punk, metal, electronic, and all types of independent and underground music. The festival will return for Halloween weekend from October 31st–November 3rd, 2024 to venues throughout Austin. Last year, organizers re-launched the spring event under the original banner Austin Psych Fest for a more intimate feel that connected to the festival’s origins.
