With their 15th anniversary year underway, Balkun Brothers are gearing up for the release of their fifth studio album, TWO LEATHER JACKETS, due out on Sunday, November 23rd via Sony Music and Auto Bon Records. Today, Live For Live Music is excited to premiere the final pre-release single from the new Balkun Brothers album, “CAN’T CATCH A BREAK”.
The accompanying music video for “CAN’T CATCH A BREAK” amplifies the chaos and emotions behind the track with a fully animated, high-velocity visual. Fiery reds and stark black-and-white line work collide as a horned, devil-like figure appears throughout the video—an ominous thread weaving through rapid-fire segments of distortion, pressure, and spiraling tension.
Between these surreal narrative shots, the Balkun Brothers appear as hand-drawn, white-outline characters ripping through the track on a checkered floor in front of towering amps. It’s a gritty, psychedelic blend of performance and storyline—a mash of sketch-style intensity and rock-and-roll mayhem—that captures the band’s gritty, hard-nosed sound in a new medium. The new track arrives as the sibling rock duo—brothers Steve and Nick Balkun—celebrate 15 years as a band in 2025. Known for fusing punk grit with heavy blues riffs, the Hartford, CT outfit has spent 2025 touring cities across the country. Their explosive live shows have earned them slots alongside a number of well-known blues and rock artists, including Joe Bonamassa, Johnny Winter, Melvin Seals, Dopapod, Gary Clark Jr., George Lynch, Chris Robinson, and many more.
TWO LEATHER JACKETS, the Balkuns’ fifth studio album, was recorded at the storied Sunset Sound Studio in Los Angeles with producer Keith Snow (Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Better Than Ezra). It serves as the band’s first studio release since 2020’s Here Comes The End of The World. The duo previously released a music video for the new album’s title track. Watch it below.
