Trey Anastasio has released a new LP, Beneath A Sea Of Stars, which encompasses a remastered recording of Ghosts of the Forest‘s tour-closing show at Berkeley’s Greek Theatre. The performance featured an opening set from Khruangbin, marking just the second night of the tour with a supporting act following the previous night’s Yo La Tengo-supported performance at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre.
Ghosts of the Forest’s creation and inception came as Trey’s dear friend Chris “C Cott” Cottrell struggled with and eventually succumbed to his stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Following a one-off tour, which saw Anastasio bring his Ghosts of the Forest project to stages across the northeast and California, Trey slowly incorporated GOTF material into Phish‘s live catalog throughout the band’s recent summer tour. Out of the nine tracks on Ghosts of the Forest, Trey has inserted all but the title track, “In Long Lines”, and “Brief Time” into Phish’s vast repertoire.
