Billy Joel has canceled all of his scheduled 2025 and 2026 tour dates following a recent diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), a disorder where cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) builds up in the brain, causing the ventricles to enlarge.
Per an update posted to the Piano Man’s social media on Friday, “This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision, and balance. Under his doctor’s instructions, Billy is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period. Billy is thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritizing his health. He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day he can once again take the stage.”
“I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding,” said Billy Joel in an added statement.
Billy Joel, age 76, had spent the last several months slowly rolling out an extensive list of 2025 and 2026 stadium concerts featuring co-bills with notable acts like Stevie Nicks, Rod Stewart, and Sting. All tickets purchased to the now-canceled Billy Joel tour dates will be refunded automatically at the point of purchase. Note that the refund will go to the original purchaser if the tickets were transferred to you.
In March, Joel had postponed a number of scheduled 2025 tour dates due to a then-unspecified medical condition. “While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first,” he wrote at the time. “I look forward to getting back on the stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans.”
