Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann has announced a pair of Billy & The Kids Halloween concerts in California to round out his late-2023 Daze of the Dead mini-tour. Kreutzmann and his band—featuring guitarist Tom Hamilton, keyboardist Aron Magner, bassist Reed Mathis, and percussionist Jeff Franca, and stream of rotating guests—will perform at Saratoga, CA’s Mountain Winery on Halloween night (10/31) and Santa Barbara, CA’s Santa Barbara Bowl on the Day of the Dead (11/2).

“Why celebrate just one Day of the Dead when you can celebrate the Dead for days?” Kreutzmann asked in a post entitled “PART 2: TREAT,” a follow-up to the “PART 1: TRICK” note included in last week’s Capitol Theatre announcement, “Why celebrate just one Day of the Dead when you can celebrate the Dead for days? Four days, to be precise. Four days, to be precise. Four days, three venues, two coasts. In addition to the two Capitol Theater shows (Oct 21, 22), I’m bringing the spirit holiday to the West Coast!

“California knows how to party and so I’m inviting all of you to my Halloween parties — Halloween night (10/31) will be at the Bay Area’s [Mountain Winery] and on the actual “Day of the Dead” (11/02) we’ll gather at the [Santa Barbara Bowl] to raise the Dead,” he added. “Please feel free to dress in costume (if you’re so inclined).

“For all of these shows,” Kreutzmann’s announcement continued, “we will honor the Dead by being very much alive. Because when we dance, we are all together, we are all one. And, together, we are the very spirit of the Grateful Dead.”

Artist pre-sale tickets for the Billy & The Kids Halloween in Saratoga, CA (10/31) and Day of the Dead show Santa Barbara, CA (11/2) will go on sale on Wednesday, September 13th at 10:00 a.m. using the password “Treat”.
