Thousands filled 1stBank Center last night to witness Billy Strings conclude his three-night run at the Broomfield, Colorado arena.

Following two memorable performances on Thursday and Friday, Strings arrived on stage with Billy Failing (banjo), Royal Masat (bass), Jarrod Walker (mandolin), and Alex Hargreaves (fiddle) ready for one more Saturday night done right. The quintet got right down to business with Strings staple “Dust in a Baggie”, followed by “Heartbeat of America”. Dan Fogelberg‘s “Along the Road” signaled the first cover of the night, with Roy Acuff‘s “The Streamlined Cannonball” then leading into a pairing of originals “My Tongue” > “Know It All”.

The covers continued with Larry Sparks‘ “John Deere Tractor” and Arthur Francis Collins‘ “The Preacher and the Bear”, which made its first appearance since 2021. Set one also included “Wargasm”, “Nights in White Satin” by The Moody Blues, “This Old world”, and “Bronzeback”. John Hartford‘s “All Fall Down” and the traditional “These Old Blues” capped off the first frame.

Set two likewise featured a mix of originals—”Ice Bridges”, “Watch it Fall”, “Slow Train”, “Love Like Me”—and several covers including a set-opening rendition of The Oak Ridge Boys‘ “Dig a Little Deeper in the Well”, the traditional “Cumberland Reel”, Eddie Noack‘s “Psycho” > J.J. Cale‘s “Ride Me High”, Doc Watson‘s “The Train That Carried My Girl From Town” > the traditional “Black Mountain Rag”, and more. New Grass Revival‘s “Whisper My Name” and Danny Barnes‘ “Pretty Daughter” gave way to “Nothing’s Working”, a song co-written by Strings with Lindsay Lou, and fan favorite “Turmoil & Tinfoil” to finish the set.

After concluding his sixth set of the weekend, Billy Strings capped the three-night run with a single-song encore comprised of “Tennessee” by Jimmy Martin. The band still had some steam left in the tank after the encore, though, and later popped in to jam with Leftover Salmon‘s Andy Thorn and Ross James‘s Electric Dead Grass at nearby Knew Conscious in Denver. Alex Hargreaves and Billy Failing joined the band for a string of covers from the Grateful Dead songbook including “Jackaroe”, “Catfish John”, and “Althea”, and Billy Strings himself followed suit, sitting in on “Big River”, “Sitting in Limbo”, and “Panama Red”.
