Billy Strings Shares Full Video Of Blue Ox 2019 Performance [Pro-Shot]

Billy Strings has released footage of his entire headlining performance at Blue Ox Music Festival. The concert took place on June 15th, 2019 at the annual bluegrass festival in Eau Claire, WI.

The show kicks off with Strings, born William Apostol, and his band taking a run through “Hollow Heart”, from their 2019 breakthrough album, HOME. After that they roll into another original tune with “Doin’ Things Right” from 2017’s Turmoil & Tinfoil. This is followed by a couple of choice covers, including Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys‘ “Southern Flavor”, and “Dreadful Win and Rain” from Jerry Garcia and David Grisman‘s Shady Grove collaboration.

Strings then returned to his own catalog with the fan-favorite “Dust In A Baggie”, which got taken out for a notable exploration, giving the jamgrass fans a taste of what they showed up for. This was followed by a couple more of Strings’ more traditional bluegrass numbers, including “Thirst Mutilator” and “99 Years Is Almost For Life”. As is customary in the latter half of the show, Strings led a jammed-out cover of “Black Clouds” by The String Cheese Incident that went on for an impressive 13 minutes before segueing into “Ernest T. Grass” by The Dillards. Before long, Strings and company transitioned back into “Black Clouds”, followed by “Ten Degrees And Getting Colder” by Gordon Lightfoot, and finally the group’s own “Turmoil and Tinfoil” to close the show.

Like the vast majority of touring musicians, Strings has been forced to postpone a good deal of upcoming concerts on his spring tour.
