Billy Strings has announced a pair of drive-in concerts in the Chicago area as part of Collectiv Presents‘ new “Chicago Bluegrass & Blues” series. The two-night run will take place at McHenry Outdoor Theater in McHenry, IL on September 16th and 17th. The four-show “Chicago Bluegrass & Blues At The Drive Inn” series will also feature concerts by two additional artists. Details on the remaining two shows of the series will be announced later this week. Tickets for all four “Chicago Bluegrass & Blues At The Drive Inn” shows will go on sale this Friday, July 31st at 11:00 a.m. local time here.

While this marks the fast-rising bluegrass star’s first foray into the relatively new drive-in concert trend, Billy Strings has been doing his best to continue performing for fans in a variety of pandemic-conscious ways as regular live concerts remain on hold. Billy and his eponymous band recently just finished up their Streaming Strings virtual tour, which saw them perform a series of crowdless, live-streamed shows from various venues in Nashville, TN over the last two weeks. Billy and company also made their highly-anticipated debut on late-night TV last week on the remote edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, a performance that was initially scheduled to take place in March but was canceled as the world came to terms with the scope of the coronavirus pandemic.

Even beyond the four-show “Chicago Bluegrass & Blues” series, Collectiv Presents has a number of additional “At The Drive Inn” shows in the works for the remainder of the year. Follow them on Instagram to keep an eye out for future announcements.
