Pickin’ superstar Billy Strings took home his second career Grammy Award (Best Bluegrass Album for Live Vol. 1) during the Recording Academy‘s 67th annual awards show on Sunday at Los Angeles, CA’s Crypto.com Arena. He beat out fellow nominees The Del McCoury Band, Tony Trischka, Bronwyn Keith-Hynes, and more for the honor.
The 2025 Grammy Award for Billy Strings, the 32-year-old bluegrass sensation, marked his second win on seven total nominations. He previously earned Best Bluegrass Album honors on his first-ever nomination back in 2021, for 2019’s Home. In the ensuing years, he earned five additional nominations including two in 2022 (Best Bluegrass Album for Renewal, Best American Roots Performance for “Love and Regret”) and three in 2024 (Best Bluegrass Album for Me/And/Dad; Best American Roots Song for his Willie Nelson collab, “California Sober“; and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for his Dierks Bentley collab, “High Note”).
The award was presented during the pre-broadcast Premiere Ceremony, though Billy Strings did not appear at the event to accept the honor in person. He was, however, in Los Angeles during Grammy weekend: On Friday, he took part in MusiCares‘ Person of the Year gala honoring the Grateful Dead alongside Dead & Company, Zac Brown, Stewart Copeland, Sierra Ferrell, Mick Fleetwood, Sammy Hagar, Bruce Hornsby, Norah Jones, Wynonna Judd, Noah Kahan, John Mayer (billed on his own in addition to Dead & Company), Maren Morris, My Morning Jacket, Lukas Nelson, Maggie Rose, Vampire Weekend, The War and Treaty, The War On Drugs, Dwight Yoakam, and more.
Billy Strings will get back on the road this week to begin his six-night extended stay in Asheville, NC (2/6, 2/7, 2/7, 2/14, 2/15, 2/16). Find tickets to upcoming Billy Strings 2025 tour dates here.
