Today we’ve learned of some terribly sad news in the world of the Black Crowes, as former keyboardist Eddie Harsch has passed away at the age of 59. It was Rich Robinson who confirmed Harsch’s death, through a post on Facebook.

“It is with the saddest of hearts that we bid farewell to our dear friend Eddie Harsch. Eddie was a brilliant musician, with a beautiful heart. We should remember Eddie for his music, his great sense of humor, and his positive outlook on life,” wrote Robinson. “We ask that everyone please respect the privacy of Eddie’s family at this time. Let’s honor him by celebrating his musical contributions to the world, and by sending positive thoughts and prayers to him and his family. Our hearts will forever remain with our musical brother.”

Harsch joined the Black Crowes in 1991, and toured with them all the way through 2006. He was also a member of the jam group Bulldog, and was set to rejoin his brothers in the Black Crowes as part of the newly-formed band, Magpie Salute. As of now, the cause of death remains unknown, but more important is Harsch’s joyous musical legacy.

RIP Eddie Harsch. You will be missed.
