Black Pumas have called off the remainder of their 2022 tour dates, the band announced on Monday afternoon.

As the six-time Grammy Award nominees noted in a statement posted to the Black Pumas social media accounts, “After four incredible years of career milestones and unforgettable live experiences around the world, we have made the difficult decision to press pause and step away from touring for the rest of the year. We have the best fans in the world and appreciate each and every one of you for your support and understanding. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to know you better.”

The psychedelic soul outfit led by vocalist Eric Burton and guitarist Adrian Quesada has maintained a busy global itinerary since touring began again at full force in 2021. The band had a number of tour dates and high-profile festival appearances on the docket for the remainder of 2022 including slots at Live Oak, FL’s Suwannee Hulaween, Bridgeview, IL’s Sacred Rose, Bridgeport, CT’s Sound On Sound, and more.

While the note from Black Pumas on the canceled 2022 tour dates sure sounds a lot like a “farewell,” they have yet to indicate their intentions beyond the end of this year.

Recently, amid a lengthy summer of touring with Black Pumas, Quesada released Boleros Psicodélicos, an homage to the cultural movement of balada music that blossomed throughout Latin America between the late ‘60s and early ‘70s.

This story is developing.
