Black Sabbath’s new release “13” has beat Daft Punk’s “Random Access Memories” for the No. 1 spot this week. The album sold 155,000 copies in its first week of release, making it Black Sabbath’s first-ever No. 1 album.

This is easily the biggest first-week of album sales for Sabbath in comparison to their previous record of 62,000 copies sold with “Reunion” in 1998.

As the name of the new release implies, this is the thirteenth album and 23rd chart entry in Sabbath’s 43-year career. “13” features Ozzy Osborne on vocals for the first time since 1978. They have slipped into the top ten elite only once previously, back in 1971 with their “Master of Reality” album.
