Frank Sintara, Elvis, Wayne Newtown and—now—Blink-182. 26 years after forming in Southern California, the veteran pop punk trio will head to Las Vegas for a 16-night residency at the Palms Casino Resort.
Beginning May 26th, Blink-182 will take over the Palms’ Pearl Concert Theater on select weekends through November 17th. Billed as “Kings of the Weekend”, the run will likely feature a career-spanning setlist that draws heavily from the first ten years of the band’s output, as was the case on their 2017 California tour. Then again, there’s always a possibility that the band will deliver a series of tributes to old school Vegas legends instead.
“When the Palms asked us to do a residency here in Vegas, we said ‘Absolutely!’,” bassist Mark Hoppus wrote in a statement. “Now, we just have to cast our showgirls, create our set list – a true throwback of Vegas classics with Sinatra, Liberace. Maybe we can even marry someone onstage … The possibilities in Vegas are endless.”
According to Rolling Stone, Blink-182 is preparing to record a follow up to their 2016 album, California, in the near future. The band’s latest LP was their first to feature vocalist/guitarist Matt Skiba, who joined the group in 2015 after founding member Tom Delonge quit (in part because he wanted to focus on his work searching for the truth about UFOs).
